Summer Communication

June – September

Keeping Organised

After the initial meeting with the Media Production students, we set up a Facebook Messenger chat. This was created in order to stay organized and keep in touch with each other over the Summer months. At first, we would discuss any ideas we had about the project as a whole, and eventually Hannah set us research to connect the first draft of the script to our roles.

My task was to look into the sound of radios in the late 1970s (when the film is set). This included physical radios themselves, the buttons, inner-workings and amplification, as well as radio stations, programs and presenters of the time. Incorporating this into the film would add real authenticity and improve the film’s validity and legitimacy. This research can be found by following this link.

A company name and Facebook page was also created in order to advertise the film, gain recognition and followers, keep us on the ball and promote what we were currently working on. The company, Viewfinder Productions, then started to invite others to like and share the page to get the ball rolling (21st July 16).

First Group Meeting

Introductions, Ideas and Collaboration

Towards the back-end of Semester B last year, our thoughts turned to what sort of project we would ideally work on for Audio Project 1 in third year (film project, band EP, radio show, etc.) We received an email from four Media Production students who had already set their company up, created an initial film synopsis and written a rough draft, and agreed to meet with them to decide whether we would collaborate for the upcoming year.

The meeting took place at Coffee Aroma, 11am. After introductions, the discussion included the overview of the film synopsis, initial ideas the group had, previous work, grades and expectations of both the Media team and ourselves. Rob, Dan and myself were very pleased to collaborate with the Media students as they presented their ideas well, were clearly very organized to have so much prepared already for third year and seemed like friendly, hard-working people.

The outcome of this meeting was positive as we were pleased to have organized a group and project to work with in good time. Our to-dos included writing out the proposal to hand in at the end of Semester B to illustrate our initial ideas/wishes as to what we wanted to work on for Audio Project 1.
